New report evaluates performance of RTA claims process objectives

Industry News : 17 July 2012

A report commissioned by the Ministry of Justice has compared the management information data of several personal injury claimant solicitor firms and defendant insurers. This was done in order to evaluate the extent to which the existing low value Road Traffic Accident (RTA) claims process has achieved its objectives in reducing costs and improving efficiency.

The report revealed that the new RTA process could have led to the 6% fall in the level of damages that claims settle for, the 3-4% fall in the costs awarded to claimant’s solicitors, and the 5-7% rise in the speed in which claims are settled. Furthermore, around 50% of cases dropped out in the early stages of the RTA process.
