Medical Reporting Process
We have been asked to obtain an independent medical report in regards to your personal injury claim. The request usually comes from your solicitor but may come from your insurer or the solicitor / insurer representing the other party involved. Shortly after we receive the request, you will receive a letter from us confirming the instruction of a suitable medical expert. We will do our utmost to ensure that our expert is within your local area and also that they have a short waiting list.
If you are to be seen by a GP, you will find a personal injury questionnaire enclosed with your letter - please complete this and give it to the expert at your examination. If you lose the questionnaire or make a mistake on it, you can download another copy here.
The Appointment
Within 2 weeks of receiving our initial letter, you should receive details of your appointment from the expert. If you feel you are unable to attend the appointment, please contact the expert’s secretary as soon as possible ensuring that it is at least 48 hours prior to the examination date in order to reschedule.
We would also respectfully draw your attention to the fact that once you have agreed to attend an appointment, the doctor will expect to see you at this time. In the event that you do not attend the prearranged appointment, you may be liable for a cancellation fee.
The Report
Once you have been examined, our expert will complete the report detailing your injuries and the likely recovery period. Your representatives will then send a copy of the report to you in order for you to confirm its accuracy.
